A low fluctuation control strategy for PMSM direct drive system targeting Particle Beam Instrumentation Application
/ Emery, Jonathan (CERN) ; Andersson, Patrik (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Thoma, Yann (Appl. Sci. U., Yverdon)
Particle accelerators have a singular environment where multiple constraints are driving the engineering of equipment. Designers have to deal with the destructive effects of charged particles, high vacuum requirements, large temperatures and particular system architectures due to large-scale installations such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the CERN laboratory. [...]

Performance Assessment of Pre-Series Fast Beam Wire Scanner Prototypes for the Upgrade of the CERN LHC Injector Complex
/ Sirvent, Jose (CERN) ; Andersson, Patrik (CERN) ; Andreazza, William (CERN) ; Dehning, Bernd (CERN) ; Emery, Jonathan (CERN) ; Garcia, Lionel (CERN) ; Gudkov, Dmitry (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Tassan-Viol, Jean (CERN) ; Trad, Georges (CERN) et al.
A new generation of beam wire scanner (BWS), for transversal beam profile monitoring, is under development on the framework of the LHC Injector Upgrade project at CERN. Two pre-series prototypes have been built and installed in the Super Proton Synchrotron and Proton Synchrotron Booster, to assess the performance of the upgraded BWS concept. [...]

Installation and Test of Pre-series Wire Scanners for the LHC Injector Upgrade Project at CERN
/ Veness, Raymond (CERN) ; Andersson, Patrik (CERN) ; Andreazza, William (CERN) ; Chritin, Nicolas (CERN) ; Dehning, Bernd (CERN) ; Emery, Jonathan (CERN) ; Goldblatt, Aurélie (CERN) ; Gudkov, Dmitry (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Sirvent, Jose (CERN) et al.
A new generation of fast wire scanners is being developed for the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project at CERN. These will be essential tools for transverse profile measurement with the higher brightness LIU beams, and are planned for installation in 2019 in all three synchrotrons making up the LHC injector chain. Selective laser photodetachment of intense atomic and molecular negative ion beams with the ILIAS RFQ ion beam cooler
/ Martschini, Martin (Vienna U.) ; Pitters, Johanna (Vienna U. ; CERN) ; Moreau, Tobias (Vienna U.) ; Andersson, Pontus (Vienna U. ; Chalmers U. Tech.) ; Forstner, Oliver (Vienna U. ; Jena U.) ; Hanstorp, Dag (U. Gothenburg (main)) ; Lachner, Johannes (Vienna U.) ; Liu, Yuan (Oak Ridge) ; Priller, Alfred (Vienna U.) ; Steier, Peter (Vienna U.) et al.
The Ion Laser InterAction Setup (ILIAS) project at the University of Vienna aims at the exploration of negative ion beam filtering by selective laser photodetachment for applications in accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). A gas-filled radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) is used to decelerate and cool negative atomic and molecular ion beams with intensities of up to several hundred nA, and overlap them collinearly with a continuous wave (cw) laser beam.
