Features and Benefits

One Touch On/Off Button: Allows you to activate the hand blender at the touch of a button. Simply press and hold down the Low or High button to blend or pulse. Once the button is released, blending will stop.

Comfort Handle: The handle allows you to control the hand blender with ease.

Motor Body Housing: A powerful 200-watt motor operates with an easy one-touch control.

Detachable Shaft: By pressing the release button on the back of the unit, the shaft will detach for easy cleaning.

Blending Attachment with Stainless Steel Blade and Blade Guard: This attachment easily snaps into the motor body housing. The stainless blade is partially covered by a stainless housing that keeps splashing to a minimum.

Mixing Beaker: 2-Cup mixing beaker is microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Use this container to blend drinks, shakes, salad dressings and more. Designed for easy gripping and drip-free pouring.

Operating the Hand Blender

The specially designed blade is for mixing and stirring all kinds of foods, including salad dressings, powdered drink products, and sauces. It is ideal for combining dry ingredients, and can be used to emulsify mayonnaise, too.

This blade mixes and stirs while adding only a minimum of air to your mixture. A gentle up-and-down motion is all you need to make the most flavorful, full-bodied liquid recipes.

Cleaning

Always clean the Smart Stick motor body and blending shaft thoroughly after using.

Remove the blending shaft from the motor body. Clean the motor body only with a sponge or damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners which could scratch the surface. To clean the blending shaft, wash by hand in hot water using mild detergent, or in the dishwasher.

The blade on our immersion blender broke this morning (Nov 27, 2024). We bought it 10 years and 10 months ago (Jan 12, 2014). We got our money's worth out of it.

    I have a food processor which is great to use for all things blending, mixing, grinding, etc. But I've realized that it is sometimes a chore to have to lug out that 10-15 lb behemoth every time I want to mix up a few things or make a smoothie for the wife. So I decided to buy this hand blender while it was on sale and I'm really glad I did.

    Pros:
    - Easy to clean: I usually detach the blender portion and have it soaking in some water as I either finish up what I was making or eat. Then when I am ready to wash I'll attach it back into the power portion and run it in some soapy water, voila! All clean.
    - Lightweight: Fairly small and when broken apart it can fit in any cabinet or drawer.
    - Easy to hold: I've read a fair amount of reviews that complain about the placement of the safety switch on top. I usually start the blender firmly inside whatever I am going to blend, then I'll hold the blender with my right hand (finger on whichever speed I want to use) and with the other hand hit the safety button. Once the blender is going (you have to keep your finger pressed down on the speed) you can keep it going without pushing the safety button again. It isn't very difficult once you get the hang of it and I haven't made a mess in the kitchen yet (includes blending whole tomatoes right in the can).
    - Efficient blending/grinding: So far I've blended smoothies (frozen strawberries, banana, milk), whole tomatoes in the can into a puree, homemade mayo (within 10 sec), and a mixture for my chili base. The chili base I wasn't sure if it was going to work because I placed the following inside of the cup that came with the blender: ripped up pieces of dried ancho, California, and Arbol chili peppers, anchovie filets, chunks of chocolate, whole star anise, whole cloves, and tomato paste/soy sauce/marmite/chicken broth. After a few seconds though, I could tell that it worked perfectly. There were a few pieces of chili at the end, but nothing that caused any problems. I was pretty pleased with the result.

    Cons:
    - None so far, but I'll update later if I run into any.

    I know another complaint was the length of the power cord, but I honestly think it is pretty decent length. Compared to fryers, electric skillets, and other appliances this hand blender has a very generous power cord. I'd definitely buy again in a heartbeat. Especially at such a low price.

    This is a great item...I use it constantly.

    At this point I have owned this immersion blender for 6 months, using it several times a week. This great tool has sent my Cuisinart food processor (previously the star of the kitchen) to a hidden corner of a lower cabinet, where it rarely sees the light of day. My son loves smoothies, but before I got this blender, I hated making them because the food processor was a huge mess to clean up. Plus, the processor's blades are very sharp, and must be washed separately. I am clumsy enough that I am fearful of a deep cut every time I wash those blades. It has not happened yet, but I fear it still may.

    When I bought this immersion blender, I was concerned about some of the issues raised by other reviewers for similar blenders... mainly the broken plastic gearings of the motor handle. I have had no problems at all with that. I can only assume that the users were trying to grind up hard objects, such as ice, by putting downward pressure on the blade head against the bottom of the provided processing beaker. I am careful that I do not process hard objects, but honestly I think it could probably handle that too. I would say hold the blade head above the bottom and let the blades churn the ice, thus avoiding applying heavy pressure to the motor unit. But, then, I avoid using ice anyway.

    TIPS --
    1. Easy storage. I wrap the cord around the motor handle and put it on the shelf, then put the blade arm in the beaker and put that next to the motor on the same shelf. All is very light, compact and occupies very little space.

    2. Easy cleanup. Compared to the food processor, this is night and day. I drop the blade head in water as soon as I am done, to let it soak. When I clean up, I wash the beaker like any cup (it's clear plastic, so do not use abrasive wash pads) then put the wash pad tip in the blade head, twist it a few times and then rinse it. This keeps my fingers away from the blades, and still cleans up perfectly. No cut fingers!

    3. A tip for usage. When I first began using the blender, I would plug it in, insert it into the cup and begin blending the food. Often, I would stop to add additional ingredients (leaving the entire blender upright in the beaker) then resume processing. I found that sometimes the weight of the cord on the motor handle could cause the whole blender to tip over, spilling the beaker's contents ... big mess! Since then, I press the rear release button to remove the motor section, but leave the blade arm still in the beaker. Then I snap the top half (the motor half) back in place when I am ready to resume blending. This works very well. It only takes one or two spills to see the benefits of this approach.

    I can't say enough good things about this blender. I really really like the whole idea of an immersion blender and this one is very good. I had never even heard of immersion blenders until I came upon a recipe that specified the use of one. I was puzzled, so I looked it up, bought this one, and will never go back.

    I love the Cuisinart blender we have in the USA, which is why I ordered this one (at 3 times the price) for use in the UK.

    But what came was a standard US blender, that requires a 120v 60Hz power supply. It even came with a US plug, which at least saved me from plugging it in and blowing it up.

    Good power, and the button on the top that has to be pressed is a good safety guard. I find sometimes I have to keep the safety button pressed all the while blending. That doesn’t happen often, and I think it must be because what I’m blending is done being blended? Not certain on that, but like I said, it doesn’t happen often. Other than than that, it works great - in a deep pot of hot soup to be puréed to sauces, or smoothies.
