I wouldn't expect the site to be 100% correct, but here's what the IMFDB has to say

I have no idea why they show that Remington Spartan 12 gauge in the Mad Max 2 section. It obviously looks nothing like the gun used in the movie. Maybe they just wanted an example of any sawed off 12 gauge. Still, it's misleading.Foxtrot X-Ray wrote:I wouldn't expect the site to be 100% correct, but here's what the IMFDB has to say

I think that's the case.jwrites wrote:Maybe they just wanted an example of any sawed off 12 gauge
Another example of this is the Shotgun used by Antonio Banderas as "El Mariachi" in Desperado.
The one they use as an example is cut off much longer than the prop used in the film.
I think the problems they have had identifying the guns used in the Mad Max trilogy is the sheer number of nearly identical SxS shotguns that have been produced, combined with the quality of the image.
Even on DVD, they're pretty grainy by the time you blow them up.

I'd be willing to bet that the shotgun used by Roop and Charlie is the same one used by Max.

I am leaning towards a VG Bentley;

Wow, that VG Bentley does look VERY close... We need a better look at the engraving on the bottom.
And there's one for sale right now on an Australian website (possibly the one pictured above) for $325 AUS. That's less than $300 U.S.. If only I lived in Australia I think I would buy it.

Nice one! It looks like the fore end, tapers too much at the front, but it probably doesn't. So I'd say this is probably the one. Everything else about it looks right.
Am I mistaken in thinking that Max's was engraved? Maybe the bluing was just worn off unevenly, as on the barrels?
EDIT: Yes, I was mistaken. I never looked closely enough, and in many of the screen grabs the differences in color look like engraving, but the receiver on Max's shottie is just as smooth as Roop's. However, in this picture, the TOP of the receiver looks engraved. Maybe that's what threw me off. Maybe it IS engraved. Maybe I should stop worrying about it.
I opined in an earlier thread that I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same shotgun, just cut down and weathered, and maybe I was right.
